Dr. Nicholas Forsythe, DMD
DMD
Dr. Nick Forsythe grew up in Marysville, WA, where he played basketball and football for Marysville Pilchuck High and eventually went on to play basketball and study biology at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. After college, Dr. Nick earned his Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, and continued on at the Midwestern University School of Dentistry. While in school, Nick met and fell in love with his wife and co-owner, Whitney!
Dr. Whitney Forsythe, DMD

Dr. Whitney Forsythe is originally from a small town in Northeast Kansas (Wizard of Oz jokes are welcomed). She met her husband, Dr. Nick, while attending Midwestern University Dental School in Arizona, where a dental class barbecue turned into dating, which led to a marriage, and finally a joint dental practice! While she misses the sun and her family, she has absolutely fallen in love with the Pacific Northwest!

Tristin
Dental Hygienist
Tristin Mihelich has been a hygienist at Mount Vernon Smile Design’s office location since 1998, and our team could not do it without her! Tristin’s Dentistry knowledge, in addition to her extremely loyal patient following, absolutely makes her one of a kind and among the best of the best. Tristin has three children whom she is beyond proud of and loves to pieces. Oakley and Penny, Tristin’s precious pups, frequently accompany her on hikes. After 25 years working in our practice’s building, what Tristin loves most is our community!
Elizabeth
Dental Hygienist
Elizabeth graduated from Seattle Central College and has been with Mount Vernon Smile Design since 2022. Since then, she has gained the trust and respect of her now, loyal patients. Elizabeth creates an atmosphere for her patients in which they feel comfortable in the dental chair. Her favorite thing about being a hygienist is working with patients to overcome their dental fears with empathy and home care education. Elizabeth currently lives in Mount Vernon and loves watching her kids grow, going to all their events and chasing her toddler around. Her and her family’s favorite past time is traveling and experiencing new adventures together.
Laura
Treatment Care Coordinator
Laura is our office expert when it comes to treatment planning and maximizing patient benefits with her thorough understanding of dental insurance. Laura started in the dental industry in 2016 as a dental assistant. Throughout the years, she has taken her clinical knowledge up front with her. As Mount Vernon Smile Design’s head treatment coordinator, patients trust her to present each treatment individualized to their current needs while being mindful of each individual financial situation. Laura and her daughter Avarie live in Sedro Wolley with all their beloved animals. When the weather is nice enough, Laura and Avarie load up the horse trailer and go for a trail ride with Spirit and Sweetie.
Desiare
Patient Care Coordinator
Desirae started her career in dentistry as a dental assistant in 2010. After working for several years in the greater Seattle area, Desirae married her husband Travis and took some time to stay home with her children. We are so lucky to have had Desirae join our team in 2023 as our Patient Care Coordinator and face of our front office. Although patients come to us with dental anxiety, Desirae is passionate about turning that anxiety into a comfortable and exceptional experience, starting from the moment they walk in the door. Desirae is a mother of three, two sons and a daughter, all of whom are active in both sports and extracurricular activities. When not attending baseball, soccer, or gymnastics, Desirae loves being active. Whether it be the gym or the outdoors, she is always on the go, taking her goldendoodle, Poppy, along for the ride.
Amy
Lead Dental Assistant
Amy started with Mount Vernon Smile Design in June of 2018 as a sterile tech. Her diligent attention to cleanliness and safety is what makes her such an asset to our team. Amy was promoted in 2022 to Lead Dental Assistant and takes pride in leading her team by example. Amy grew up in Burlington and married her high school sweetheart, Alex, whom she loves exploring the outdoors with. Her favorite part of working for Mount Vernon Smile Design is her coworkers and the endless opportunities for learning and growth.
Jacenta
Dental Assistant
Jacenta started as an assistant at an orthodontic office at 16 years old. Her experience with orthodontics developed into a love for all things dental. Soon after gaining experience with orthodontics and thriving, Jacenta made the decision to expand her knowledge by taking a dive into the world of general dentistry. Mount Vernon Smile Design happily welcomed Jacenta to our team in 2021. Jacenta completed her certification as a licensed phlebotomist in 2023 and is now Dr. Nick’s right-hand woman for surgeries. Jacenta loves continually learning and getting to know her coworkers. Jacenta has big plans for 2024, as she is planning a wedding to marry her best friend and fiancé, Josh. Together they bond over trying new foods, specifically hot pot, and Korean BBQ.
Anna
Dental Assistant
Anna is a registered Washington State Dental Assistant and works with both Doctors in the office for restorative and surgical appointments. She began her dental career in a small town in northern Illinois where she was trained on the job and worked there for six years. Anna, her husband, and their two children moved to the Skagit Valley four years ago and have enjoyed all that the PNW brings: hiking, beaches, and small-town life. They look forward to having their adventurous children grow up here.
Debbie
Front Office Biller
Debbie brings decades of experience in dentistry, beginning her career in high school as a sterile technician and later earning her RDA and coronal polish license in California. She spent many years as a dental assistant before transitioning to the front office, where she continues to share her extensive knowledge of both clinical and administrative dentistry. Debbie is proud to be part of the Mt. Vernon Smile Design team, where patient care and cutting-edge dentistry are top priorities.
Originally from Northern California, Debbie moved to the area 10 years ago with her husband to be closer to their son and his family in Bothell. A proud grandmother of two grandsons—one pursuing a career in dentistry and the other a recent high school graduate—she enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking with her golden retrievers, Annie and Ellie, and cherishing time with family.
"My first visit to a dentist in two years, and I was beginning to get nervous about finding a dentist I had never used. Thankfully, a neighbor recommended Mount Vernon Smile Design. I am 80, so I spend a bit of time in various medical facilities, and it becomes evident to me when a medical organization has succeeded in building a team of care givers and staff having the competencies and attitudes to help their patients. This small Mount Vernon dental office has really figured it out. I met a half dozen staff members who each introduced themselves telling me their names and what their role was in my exam. They each were familiar with a Pre-visit Questionnaire I completed, and they were familiar with my health and medical/dental history. They were all competent, courteous, gentle, professional and KIND."
